Here is a quick summary about our guest read up and check out his music:
Name: J.G. THE JUGGANAUT
Location: Columbus, OH
Bio: John Gibson, a.k.a. JG the Jugganaut, has come a long way from reading a poem out of a book at his parent’s wedding at nine years old. In just a short time, he has recorded one album, been nominated for an Ohio Hip Hop Award, hosted two open mic shows, and has traveled all around the country performing poetry.
Born in Akron, Ohio but raised in Columbus, JG eventually attended Bowling Green State University, where he received his B.A. in Interpersonal Communications. After his dream of donning an NFL jersey fell through, he became the Color Analyst for his alma mater for three seasons before resigning this position to move to Atlanta, GA. He entered the workforce only to find that there was always something missing. There is where he found solace in the mic.
JG has a writing style that can only be described as “hip-hopetry.” The Jugganaut has a special way of weaving words together to create witty rhyme schemes that are reminiscent of old school hip hop, which is why he is called, “your favorite rapper’s favorite poet.” His performance style is nothing short of intense in which the Jugganaut exhibits an uncanny ability to connect with his audience that provokes hysterical laughter one moment and heartfelt tears the next.
With his freshman album, The Jugganaut’s Thoughts: Vol. 1, and a full length video for his awe inspiring track Mind of a Martyr under his belt, JG is looking forward seeing just where his talent can take him. He is in the process of recording a live album, working on his sophomore studio album, and authoring two books. JG’s goal is to catapult the art form of poetry to a level that is equivalent to other mediums of music and he is well on his way.
